Celebrating the opening of the Derrimut Hotel

After many debates between the citizens of Sunshine including a long legal battle with the McKay firm the Derrimut Hotel opened in 1931.

 

The hotel's most famous guest would be Prince Phillip prior to him marrying Queen Elizabeth II.

The three windows in the back of the photo can still be clearly seen today on the north elevation of the hotel.
