When Mrs Elizabeth "Lizzie" Aird, the owner & operator of the Blair Athol Coffee Place & Boarding house at 288 Hampshire Rd found out that the National Bank of Australia was looking for sites within Sunshine to establish a new bank branch, she agreed to build them a new building on the corner of Hampshire Rd and Devonshire Rd. Her plans also included a 60-room accommodation & function center for her business use.
