Samuel "Stuart" McKay's House

Talmage St, Sunshine

Talmage St 22 Albion - The Advocate 27th May 1981 Page 16 (BCC).JPG

The Last surviving house connected to the H.V. McKay Family is to be demolished.

In later years the house was known as the Kinder Smith house after Eugene Thomas "Kinder" Smith who lived in the house for many years. Eugene was a foundation member of the Sunshine Cricket Club and installed the first turf wickets in Sunshine at his own cost.

The 80 year house has a heritage overlay due to it's connection to H.V. McKay but after nine suspicious fires in ten years and years of neglect approval has been given for the building to be bulldozed to make way for a five-storey residential development.

Samuel went by his second name "Stuart" to distinguish him from his father whom's first name was Samuel.
